There’s nothing quite as stylish and versatile in the ever-changing spring weather as a reliable trench coat, dear readers. Think about it: the right trench can accomplish what virtually on other article of clothing can do. It’s rain proof, wind resistant, covers your arms and legs, complements nearly any outfit (if it’s in a sufficiently neutral color), and cinches your waist just right so that you’re not left to be the shapeless blob that so many winter coats render their wearers. It’s darn near perfect.

Perhaps no other brand so embodies this perfection as the classic Burberry trench. And guess what? The DCGF has found one for half of this week’s Goodwill Good Buy of the Week! This very gently worn gem of a trench has all of Burberry’s classic features: epaulets, back flap, gunflap, self-fabric belt, belted cuffs with, leather covered buckles (although the leather is quite worn), slash pockets with button closure, inverted back pleat, hook-and-eye collar closure, and – of course! – the famous Burberry check lining (perfect for storing your Tom Ford sunglasses, more on that later…) This coat also has the additional wool zip-out liner for those extra chilly days. The coat is a size 10L, but will more comfortably fit a regular 6-8. I’m a size long myself, and the sleeves were much too short. Look for the exact measurements on the DC Goodwill eBay Store later today…

The second half of today’s Good Buy is a more contemporary take on the trench idea from KORS Michael Kors. This is really almost a trench dress and I love that any adventurous fashionista can take an amazing item of clothing like this and wear it so many ways. Layer it over a dress, wear it as a dress itself, belt it as a coat…the possibilities are endless!

This KORS piece is Italian made and a size 42 Italian, or 6 US. It has a 100% cotton shell and 100% rayon lining, both of which are in excellent condition; the trench, in fact, has dry cleaning tags on it. The blue chambray color would look great with navy, red, or ivory, which is the color of the buttons and buckles on the sleeves (see detail pic at right). Additionally, the trench has two slash pockets, gunflap, back flap, and epaulets. I love it!
